ZINE: Why Make A Little Zine?
Mayke-A-Zine #7: It's shitty on purpose, I promise.
Final zine of Mayke-A-Zine Week!
Most of these reasons are pretty duh if you already make art in some capacity, but if you don’t I encourage you to try! These have all been 8-page zines made from 1 piece of A4 paper and a pen/marker.
I’m really proud of what I’ve made this week, and it’s been really fun expressing all sorts of things I’ve been thinking about in a low-stakes medium. Plus, I got to finish 7 pieces of art about stuff that’s important to me, and I got to become a person who starts little art events for myself and finishes them!! Here they all are…
Some zines I didn’t get to make: things I like that are round (this one was actually round :( i made it but never got around to finishing it), my Mug Manifesto, my ranking of which study spots in the Central Library are the best… but that’s OK! I want them to be higher effort so I’ll save them for when I’ve got a little more free time. Also I would love to recreate some of these zines digitally, which has taught me that zines can be a good design sketch/ideation tool too.
Thank you if you’ve been following along! :)
